The setup of a British Parliament style debate is slightly different to the Asian Parliament style. In BP, 4 teams of 2 people compete per debate. Each speaker has 7 minutes. In the preliminary round, some (but not all) motions will be prepared motions, meaning that teams can prepare in advance and bring their notes. In the semi-final and final rounds, there will be no prepared motions. If the motion is not a prepared motion, teams will have 15 minutes for case building.

In each debate, points will be awarded as follows:

1st place: 3 points

2nd place: 2 points

3rd place: 1 point

4th place: 0 points

Preliminary round: 32 teams – top 16 break and progress to the semi-final

Semi-final: 16 teams – top 4 progress to the grand final
