Final (Top 3)

Day, date: Saturday, 2nd of November 2019

Time                : 10.00-11.30

Participants will have 6-7 minutes to give a talk on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) related theme. Participants will be penalised 10 points for every 30 seconds under or over the time limit.

For example:

A red sign will be shown on the judges’ table to indicate that a penalty will be given if the talk ends. A green sign will be shown on the judges’ table to indicate that no penalty will be given if the talk ends. A yellow sign will be shown for 30 seconds as a warning before a penalty will be given.

Participants may choose their own topic, or use one of the suggested topics. Either way, the talk must be somehow related to one (or more) of the STEAM topics: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics. The talk should be well-structured and interesting with ideas that are well-developed with examples and any relevant support.

Participants may bring and use their own timer, but the timekeeping will be officially kept by the judges and the judges’ decision is final. Timing will begin when the participant starts speaking. Spectators are allowed to listen to the talk, but may not consist of participants who have not given their talk yet. After a participant has given their talk, they may listen to the talk if they wish to. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony.
